Board chair announces formation of transit alliance
9/11/08
CMT Board Chair Bob Lewis announced the formation of the Greater
St. Louis Transit Alliance at the CMT Annual Meeting on Sept. 5 in
Clayton.
Lewis said, “The Transit Alliance will be different from CMT. CMT
as you know is a 501 (c) 3 organization and as such is limited in
the amount of funds we may spend on advocacy of political measures
--- such as Prop M. The Transit Alliance will not have these limits
and will be working very hard over the next 59 days to make sure that
Prop M is passed on November 4 and MetroLink is expanded in the region.”
To date, the following organizations have joined: AGC of St. Louis,
BJC Healthcare, CMT, City of Creve Coeur, City of Florissant, City
of Moline Acres, Greater St. Louis Alliance for Change to Win, Jobs
with Justice, Loop Trolley Company, Missouri Growth Association, Missouri
Progressive Vote Coalition, St. Louis County Municipal League, St.
Louis Labor Council, St. Louis RCGA, St. Louis Realtors Association,
Service Employees International Union Local 1, Service Employees International
Union Missouri-Kansas State Council, Trailnet, University of Missouri
St. Louis and Washington University. For more information, visit www.moremetrolink.com.
