What are companies doing to help their employees with their commutes.

There is a lot of buzz in St. Louis about what companies are doing to get ready for the reconstruction of Highway 40. Many companies are already designated by the EPA as Best Work Places for Commuters by offering a variety of programs ranging from full transit subsidies, to preferred parking for car poolers to flex time. All of these strategies are necessary to help everyone in the region get through the upcoming construction. Click here to get an idea what other major St. Louis employers are doing.

Companies should have a goal of getting 20 percent of their employees doing something other than driving alone to work.

New CMT Blog

CMT is starting a blog so we can learn more about what is on the minds of our members, transit riders or anyone in St. Louis who would like to see MetroLink extended further. We will make posts from time to time and we hope people will respond.

Also, we hope you will consider joining CMT. We are the only organization in St. Louis which is devoted to the expansion of MetroLink throughout the St. Louis Region. We have been doing this since 1985. If you can't join just now, but want to be listed among those who support transit, we have a way to sign up at http://www.cmt-stl.org/supporter_commuter.html. We will send free information about transit issues to people who sign up and we hope those who do, will become active to making the case to elected officials about the need for more MetroLink and better public transportation in general in the St. Louis Region.

St. Louis Employer Transit Benefit Programs

CMT is in the process of compiling what St. Louis area employers are offering at their respective worksites with regards to transit benefit programs i.e. does your employer cover the cost of your transit pass, does your employer offer the guaranteed ride home, does your employer offer flextime. Take a moment and let us know if your employer is offering any transit benefit programs at your worksite or if you are an employer contact, let us know what you are offering. Thanks.
