Where Should MetroLink Go Next?
The East-West Gateway Coordinating Council is in the final stages of studying a potential MetroLink extension that would extend from downtown, through South St. Louis to the St. Louis County line and from downtown, through North St. Louis to Interstate 70. By early summer the region should know the costs of the extensions and projected ridership.
EWGCC also has taken a preliminary look at extending MetroLink to West Port Plaza along Page Avenue, perhaps connecting to the proposed North City Line or connecting to Clayton along I-170. However, costs, ridership and the exact route have not been determined.
Also, EWGCC has looked at extending the North City and South City lines further into St. Louis County. Like the West County Line, a high level of detail is not known at this point.
Where do you think the next extension of MetroLink should go? Any extension will require local voters passing an additional sales tax to fund the extension which hopefully would qualify for federal funding of at least 50%.
