Metro counts those who board the bus or train. There are automatic counters located in the doors of MetroLink and on the bus, the number of swipes are counted and the driver punches the fare box to record the transfers. One factor affecting Metro’s bus ridership has been the decision of the St. Louis Public Schools to offer their own student transportation for high school students
